Christine Havel, Milverton School, Leamington Spa

My school in Leamington Spa was lucky to welcome Kate's Storytree into our Reception classrooms on World Book Day this year.  Kate's calm, warm and  inclusive approach captivated each and every fidgety member of our two classes which, all teachers will agree, is no easy feat!  Kate engaged children and adults alike with her stories, incorporating the little people who gazed up at her in that very moment wherever possible. She also guided us through creating our own big class story, again involving every member of our busy bunch, and which stayed with them in the weeks which followed as they looked at our story on the classroom walls and then made their own tales in the same way. The only downside of our experience was how fast the morning flew past and our desire for more!  I would absolutely and highly recommend having Kate's Storytree to your classroom.  What a way to bring words, stories and imaginary worlds to your pupils!

Annie Ashworth, Stratford Literary Festival

I have known Kate for many years and we have worked with Kate Storytree on several occasions at the festival. She is both creative – bringing children to a love of stories – but also efficient and reliable. This year 2018, she curated our entire pre-school programme and brought fresh new ideas which were appreciated by a growing audience. She is gentle and thoughtful and brings a unique and refreshing perspective as a storyteller. Stratford is very lucky to have her in our midst.

Lucy Bolderston, Class Teacher at The Croft School

Our Reception children loved their storytelling session. Kate arrived laden with an array of colourful and intriguing decorations and props which served to draw the children into the magic of sharing stories as well as inspire their own. The storytelling session was well planned and Kate managed to combine a brilliant balance of storyteller and child-led activities during which the children's were thoroughly engaged. The children responded really well to Kate's gentle and respectful manner which values every childs' idea. We already look forward to welcoming Kate's Storytree back next year.

Julie De Bastion, Own Books

In the ancient art of verbal storytelling, our oldest form of communication, the teller plants a growing seed of creativity in the imagination of the young listener. The teller of tales brings to life stories passed down to enlighten and impart wisdom. Wisdom is so more than knowledge and knowledge is more than information, and today Kate and her Storytree is just such a one to impart wisdom and create the space for it in our over informed, over crowded psyche

Kate's Storytree is a joy to work with. She has the most beautiful, gentle, calming energy with and around young children inspiring them with her storytelling of those timeless tales. Tales which appeal to all ages. It has been an honour to work with her in collaboration in the creative art workshops I hold for young children and families: making art out of books entitled Own Books Inspires. A workshop where she conjours a magical atmospheric world for the little ones, who sit quietly listening entranced by her voice and demeanour and actions.

I look forward very much to working with Kate again knowing that anyone attending her workshops will come away enriched in spirit, inspired in creativity ,and energised to sojourne well in the world.

Pippa Brook, The Guild Chapel in Stratford-upon-Avon

The Guild Chapel is an ecumenical chapel in the centre of Stratford upon Avon. Following Heritage Lottery funding to conserve a rare set of medieval wall paintings targets were set to engage with differing audiences.

Kate brought a younger audience to the Chapel and with her specialist and extraordinary storytelling skills opened the children’s eyes to the Chapel’s secrets and stories. It has become a safe place for youngsters to explore their history and legacies.

Hannah Thomson, Warwickshire Schools Library Service

Kate has often come and worked for us and with us at Warwickshire Schools Library Service and we look forward to these times, there is always magic in the air. The spaces that Kate creates within her sessions are each tailored to the group that attend, whether they are adults, young people, babies or parents. She ensures that everybody has a space, is seen and heard, or not depending on what they might like to take from the space within The Storytree.

It is a special space within which you can imagine, listen and create; it is a space for all.

Kate imparts her magic to all and this is why she is such a magical and special storyteller. To visit one of her session is to feel the goose bumps on your flesh, to listen and hear the quiet whisperings of your soul and be gently wrapped up in the colour of the tales she tells.

You will be encouraged, remember your love of stories, reading, colour and craft. You will discover that storytelling, when told by someone as special and caring as Kate can take you on a wonderful and transformative journey. It is truly magical.
